Ogun ADC Gov. Primary: Dr. Odusina Alleges Irregularities, Threatens Legal Action

A Gubernatorial aspirant under African Democratic Congress, ADC, Hon. Dr. Bolaji  Marie Odusina has written a petition to the National Chairman of the party, Senator David Mark over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the party’s gubernatorial primary election.

Dr. Odusina, a united States-based board pedestrian and  a registered member of ADC in the State disclosed this in a statement personally signed by him and made available to journalists in Abeokuta.

She said she was not officially informed or provided with the detailed modalities for the conduct of the primaries, including the specific guidelines on voting procedures, accreditation processes, collation centres, and timelines.

The governorship aspirant maintained that it lacks of prior communication violated the fundamental principle of equal participation and due process that should govern all aspirants in a democratic primary election.

According to her, the conduct of the ADC gubernatorial primary election in Ogun State, scheduled for Friday, 22nd May, 2026, exhibited several fundamental breaches of the party’s constitution and  the electoral act, and established democratic principles guiding internal party primaries in Nigeria.

Dr. Odusina maintained that the lapses compromised the integrity, transparency, and credibility of the entire process.

She said if the party fails to address the concerns through an appropriate reconduction, she will have no alternative but to seek legal redress in the competent courts of jurisdiction to protect the integrity of the electoral process and my rights as an aspirant.

The petition letter reads “I am Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina, a United States-based board-certified paediatrician and registered member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State. I formally purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms for the Ogun State gubernatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The conduct of the ADC gubernatorial primary election in Ogun State, scheduled for Friday, 22nd May, 2026,  exhibited several fundamental breaches of the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, and established democratic principles guiding internal party primaries in Nigeria. These lapses compromised the integrity, transparency, and credibility of the entire process

“The composition of the electoral committee raised serious concerns about impartiality. Members of the committee were known loyalists and associates of Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe, another gubernatorial aspirant from Ogun Central Senatorial District. This affiliation created a clear conflict of interest and undermined the requirement for a neutral and unbiased electoral body as stipulated in party guidelines for fair primaries.

“I was not officially informed or provided with the detailed modalities for the conduct of the primaries, including the specific guidelines on voting procedures, accreditation processes, collation centres, and timelines.

” This lack of prior communication violated the fundamental principle of equal participation and due process that should govern all aspirants in a democratic primary election.

“The election process recorded multiple irregularities across various wards. In several instances, voting took place in different locations within the same ward, contrary to standard electoral protocols that require a single designated polling centre per ward to ensure proper monitoring, accreditation, and result collation. These parallel locations created opportunities for confusion and potential manipulation of the process.

“In Ogun West, a key region in Ogun State, voting was still ongoing in some areas long after the official closure of polls in other parts of the state. This staggered and uncoordinated timing across polling units further eroded the credibility of the exercise and raised questions about the overall coordination by the electoral committee.

“These issues collectively contravene the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and the broader objective of conducting credible primaries that produce candidates with legitimate mandates from party members. The irregularities have the potential to weaken party cohesion and public confidence in the ADC as a viable alternative in Ogun State politics.

“The urgency of this matter cannot be overstated. With the 2027 general elections approaching, any delay in resolving these disputes risks disrupting the party’s preparation timeline, candidate selection process, and subsequent campaign activities. Swift intervention is essential to maintain the ADC’s electoral readiness in Ogun State.

“A reconduction of the gubernatorial primary election under clear, transparent, and uniformly applied modalities is necessary to restore faith in the process. This should include the appointment of a new, impartial electoral committee, timely dissemination of guidelines to all aspirants, and strict adherence to single polling locations per ward with synchronized voting timelines across all regions, including Ogun West.

“I remain committed to the ideals of the African Democratic Congress and the democratic principles it upholds. My participation in the primary was guided by a desire to contribute to good governance in Ogun State through issue-based politics and service delivery.

“Should the party fail to address these concerns through an appropriate reconduction, I shall have no alternative but to seek legal redress in the competent courts of jurisdiction to protect the integrity of the electoral process and my rights as an aspirant.

“I trust that your esteemed office, under your leadership as National Chairman, will give this petition the urgent attention it deserves in the interest of justice, party unity, and the advancement of democratic standards within the ADC” she conclude.
