SO-SAFE CORPS APPREHENDS SERIAL NATIONAL ASSET BUYERS’ SYNDICATES, RECOVERS ITEMS.

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, has arrested three suspects for buying and being in possession of some quantities of diesels meant for the use of the construction company in charge of the construction of road along Sokoto Raod, Idogo, Ilaro.

This is contained in a statement by the State Commander, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo and made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps, Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to the statement, the Corps received an intelligence report from an informant of some group of people who has been in the business of buying diesel meant for the use of the company in charge of the construction of road along Idogo axis. Afterwards, in line with professional standard operation, the State Commander sets up an investigation cum surveillance team led by ACC Moruf Adaranijo, Ilaro Area Commander, to monitor the activities of the syndicate. After some weeks of surveillance, the team went on an tactical ambush at the wee hour of 22 June, 2026 and succeeded in arresting the suspects at about 1:33pm on the 23 June, 2026.

(Dr.) Ganzallo, in his explanation said, in May, the team had initially made a move to carry out the arrest but for want of sufficient intelligence, the operation was aborted. Subsequently, on Monday, 22 June, 2026, the agency received an active and working intelligence that the cartel operates on Mondays and Saturdays. Armed with this information, the team decided to burst their activities that same day the information was received.

Meanwhile, ahead of the ambush, leader of the team, ACC Adaranijo has strategically positioned his officers at different ambush point to cordon every possible route of escape. The team, having been equipped with the details of the vehicle, trailed its movement till it was confirmed that indeed it was the vehicle of interest. When the suspects realized they are being trailed, they bolted with the vehicle and the officers trailed them immediately. Simultaneously, all ambush point was alerted. In the process of escaping, the suspects vehicle’s tyre blew out within the perimeter of the crime scene along Sokoto Road, Idogo, Ilaro, Yewa South, Ogun State and instantly, they were surrounded. All three male suspects; Gbolahan Ayobami, 27, the grader machine operator, Adedamola Ayomide, 29, the driver of the vehicle, and Ajibose Ayobami, 20, the loader and son of the woman buyer of the diesel were arrested and taken into custody.
In the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed that they have performed the act three times within over a month. In fact, they admitted that they still bought the items last week.

The recovered items are; mazda vehicle wit plate number JJJ 913 GX, 17 gallons containing 30 litres of diesel each.

The case has since been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Ilaro Area Command for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
