Customs Begins Final Phase of 2025 Recruitment Screening, Tasks Candidates on Discipline
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially flagged off the final stage of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing rigorous documentation, physical fitness assessments, and medical screenings at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The two-week exercise, which commenced on Monday, 7 September 2026, will run through 19 September 2026 and covers shortlisted applicants across the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. To prevent congestion and maintain order, candidates are being screened in batches categorised alphabetically by their states of origin.
Addressing the candidates, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, emphasised that the Service is evaluating character and professional conduct alongside physical fitness.
“On behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, I congratulate you on reaching this stage,” Onyeka said. “I urge you to remain orderly and strictly adhere to the guidelines. Beyond physical requirements, your attitude, discipline, and conduct are critical factors in deciding who ultimately joins the Service.”
Onyeka further said the NCS is working closely with the Customs Police and other relevant Units within the Service to safeguard the integrity of the process.
Also speaking on the operations at the centre, the Commandant of Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, noted that administrative innovations and inter-agency collaboration have streamlined the exercise.
“Everything happening here reflects the policy vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which emphasised continuous operational improvement, collaboration, and innovation,” Gaura stated. “The process has been seamless, hitch-free, and conducted without any casualties.”
The screening for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) cadre concludes on Thursday, 10 September, while evaluations for the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue until 19 September 2026.
