CP Lanre Ogunlowo Vows to Cripple Criminal Hibernation in ogun state Forests

In a proactive effort to enhance security and dismantle criminal hideouts, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, alongside other Service Commanders in Ogun State, embarked on a tactical intelligence operation to J4 forest, located on the boundary between Ogun and Ondo States, in the early hours of February 13, 2025.

The operation follows repeated complaints from staff of the Forest reserve and residents about uncontrolled influx of unidentified individuals into villages in the outskirts of the state. The CP and other security heads engaged directly with villagers, seeking firsthand information on their security concerns.

Key Security Concerns Raised by Villagers

During interactions with local leaders, they identified armed robbery , trading in arms , in an area simply known as Loji but the vast land connects Oshoko, Area J1, leading towards Ijebu Igbo and J3 housing the community of loggers, that nefarious activities take place behind the scene but hinted that armed robbery and trading in arms,as the most prevalent crime in the area. While no kidnapping cases had been recorded, the elders raised concerns about the porous nature of the forest which hosts more than one hundred and fifty settlements. One alarming report from the community is constant influx by groups of unidentified individuals engaging in illegal activities in the area.

Continued Security Operations

CP Ogunlowo assured residents that this covert operation marks the beginning of intensified security efforts in J4 forest and other vulnerable areas in Ogun State. He emphasized that more security patrols and visits will be conducted to demonstrate the presence of law enforcement and prevent Ogun State from becoming a safe haven for criminals.
