The Customs Area Controller in charge of Murtala Muhammed Airport Command (MMAC), Comptroller Michael Awe, has handed over seized Cannabis Sativa worth N371 million to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

  1. In his words, “They are in 40 packages and decently concealed. This is the extent to which these people go for smuggling.

“We did this interception with the help of our sister agency. And on that note, we will hand it over to the agency, which we know is their paramount assignment to handle,” he added.

On the suspect’s arrest and synergy with the sister agency, Comptroller Awe stated, “This is what we have been doing, and it will continue.

“Currently, there is a suspect who is already in NDLEA custody. So, we will hand over these items to aid their prosecution. This will also serve as a deterrent to others who do such businesses.”

Receiving the items, Commander Muhammed Ahmed, in charge of NDLEA Murtala Muhammed Airport Command, commended the CAC and his team for their hard work while assuring that the synergy will continue to exist between the two agencies.

“As the Comptroller once said, we are working for the same purpose, which is to ensure security and safety of Nigeria,” he concluded.
