“How IWA water project eased scarcity of water in Abeokuta South LG”
Before the emergence of Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu, popularly known as IWA as Lawmaker, representing Abeokuta South State Constituency 2, some areas under his jurisdiction had been suffering of pipe borne water, where by water scarcity was the order of the day. Many residents used to find it difficult to get water for their household use, many could not afford to buy water for their daily use. These sufferings were significantly eased when Hon. IWA came to their rescue and eased the scarcity of water by supplying his constituents free borehole water at their door steps.
Residents from ward 8 to 15 who benefitted from this water project of Hon. Wasiu Igbalaye were full of joy and happiness over the kind gesture of the lawmaker.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent expressed happiness over the kind gesture of Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu, saying that the provision of the daily water has been a blessing to them.
They said “IWA has made us feel like we are not forgotten after several years of pleading and outcry to the government on the water situation in our community.” Indeed, God truly answered our prayer through the intervention of Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu, who has been providing us with daily borehole water.
Another resident , Omowunmi Bamgbola said “Before the intervention of IWA , we used find it difficult to get drinking water. We have suffered a lot, there was scarcity of water in our community, no borehole water, most of us used to buy water and those who can not afford it find another means. We appreciate Hon. IWA for this daily supply of water. He has been doing this before he became a lawmaker.
Mrs Mopelola from ward 14 in Saraki says “The scarcity of water then has affected the school children mostly as they were constantly late to school because they had to fetch water before going to school. For the women, household chores like cooking was a huge problem due to water scarcity.This daily supply of water has really helped us a lot and we want appreciate Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu for for coming to our rescue and easing this scarcity of water which we have been suffering of for some years.
Meanwhile, IWA while speaking with our correspondent on the water project said” the project came as a fulfilment of his promise to the people.
He said “When clean water is made available to the people, you are also tactically addressing the issue of poverty and hunger. This is the vision behind the water project. I will not relent in my efforts in ensuring my constituents get the best.
