Ogun State we move to the  next level with my nine- point agenda Sen. Solomon Adeola Yayi

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has unveiled a nine-point agenda for the state, pledging to build on existing achievements and pursue policies aimed at improving the welfare and development of residents.
Adeola stated this on Friday when he paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta. He said his decision to engage journalists was informed by the important role of the media in informing citizens, holding public officials accountable and promoting development.
Receiving Adeola, the Chairman of the Ogun State NUJ Council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, commended the senator for what he described as his visible interventions across the state. Olanrewaju said Adeola’s contributions to infrastructure, education, empowerment and other people-oriented initiatives had continued to attract attention across various communities.
The NUJ chairman also acknowledged Adeola’s support for the journalism profession, particularly the provision of a solar-powered borehole at the NUJ Secretariat Annex, annual support for the union’s Press Week programmes and the provision of laptops for journalists. He said the interventions had helped to improve the working environment and capacity of members of the Fourth Estate.
Olanrewaju, however, urged the senator to support the union’s broader development agenda, including the remodelling of its facilities, establishment of a modern digital newsroom and multimedia centre, training and capacity development, journalists’ welfare and housing schemes. He said the demands were contained in the NUJ’s ITESIWAJU framework for media development and good governance.
Responding, Adeola said his agenda would prioritise human capital development, infrastructure, economic empowerment, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and other areas considered critical to the sustainable development of Ogun State.
The senator said his experience in public service had given him a clear understanding of the challenges confronting the people, adding that his administration would focus on practical policies capable of improving the standard of living and creating opportunities for residents.
Adeola also appealed to journalists to continue to uphold professionalism, accuracy and fairness in reporting, stressing that the media remained an important partner in deepening democracy and ensuring accountability in governance.
He said his engagement with the NUJ was part of his broader consultation with critical stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election, adding that he remained committed to an inclusive administration that would give all parts of the state a sense of belonging.
Adeola urged the journalists to critically examine the issues surrounding the 2027 election and ensure that the electorate was provided with accurate information to enable them make informed decisions.
