The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), has arrested and handed over a suspected offender, Mr. Remilekun Peter, “34” to the Police for further investigation following an alleged incident of burglary, theft, and attempted rape at Onimalu Cooperative CDA, along Ilogbo Road, Ogun State.
In a statement issued by the State Commander, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the agency disclosed that the incident occurred at approximately 3am on Thursday, September 3, 2026, after the Chairman of the Cooperative CDA, Mr. Tajudeen Adedeji, alerted the Division Officer, SC Bakare Gafar, that residents had heard a woman shouting for help.
According to the report, immediately, members of the community reportedly rushed to the scene afterwards, and allegedly found the suspect, Mr. Remilekun Peter, chasing the victim, Mrs. Omolara Oluwakemi, while holding a pair of scissors. A security officer on duty immediately intervened and apprehended the suspect.
The State Commander further stated that during preliminary questioning, the victim alleged that the suspect entered her residence at about 3am and removed her television, fans, and other household appliances. She further alleged that after taking the items, the suspect produced a pair of scissors and attempted to sexually assault her.
According to the victim, she managed to escape from the suspect and raised an alarm, attracting the attention of members of the community.
A search conducted on the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a condom.
Following the intervention of the So-Safe Corps, the suspect, the victim, and the complainant, Mr. Tajudeen Adedeji, were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Onipanu Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The State Commander commend members of the community and the Divisional Officer, who responded promptly to the distressed call and assisted in preventing further harm.
The Corps further reiterates its commitment to protecting lives and property and encourage members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies to the appropriate security agency.
