OGEPA SEALS PETROL STATION FOR UNDERGROUND WATER POLLUTION.

Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed Arolat Petrol Station, along Ayetoro roundabout road in Abeokuta, pending the conclusion of investigation on alleged under ground water pollution.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency(OGEPA), Hon. Farouk Akintunde, saying that a petition was received by Foursquare Gospel Church located beside Arolat Petrol Station in Abeokuta.

Hon. Akintunde said the petition revealed that the church only source of water supply which is a well has been contaminated with Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) in the area.

The Special Adviser noted that the enforcement team of the Agency sealed up the facility to carry out proper investigation, such as identification of contaminated areas, extent of the contamination and ascertaining the present understand water status.

” As a responsive and responsible agency, the safety and wellbeing of our people is paramount and must not be compromise for any reason” Akintunde Said.
