SO-SAFE CORPS NABS SUSPECTED BURGLAR WITH ALUMINIUM WINDOW IN ATAN-OTA

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 33-year-old suspected burglar for allegedly vandalizing and stealing an aluminium window from a building in the Oluomo area of Koko, Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
In an official statement issued by the State Commander, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo and made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the Corps disclosed that the arrest was made on September 21, 2026, at about 3:30pm, following a distress call received by the Atan-Ota Area Command.
According to the report, the distress call was received by the Area Commander, ACC Job Adeniji, reporting that a man had been caught removing windows from a building around Oluomo, Koko area of Atan-Ota. Upon receiving the information, the Area Commander promptly deployed officers within the vicinity to verify the report and respond to the scene.
On arrival at the scene, the officers found the suspect in possession of one aluminium casement window and a knife. He was immediately apprehended and taken to the Atan-Ota Area Command for further interrogation.
During preliminary interrogation conducted by the Area Commander, the suspect identified himself as Odede Afeez, 33 years old, a bricklayer, residing at Koko Ebiye, Atan-Ota, where he claimed to have lived for over one month. The suspect confessed to have gone to the building to remove the aluminium window.
When further interrogated on how long he had been involved in such activity, the suspect stated that it was his third time. He further confessed that he had previously removed another window and sold it to a scrap dealer for ₦18,000 (Eighteen Thousand Naira). He added that he previously resided at Iwoye, along Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area before relocating to Atan-Ota.
Items recovered from the suspect at the scene include one aluminium casement window, one knife, and pumping-machine wires.
Following preliminary investigation at the Area Command, the suspect and the recovered items were transferred to the Divisional Police Command, Atan-Ota, for further and proper investigation.
The State Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, commended the officers of the Atan-Ota Area Command for their swift response, vigilance and professionalism in apprehending the suspect, noting that the arrest underscores the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property.
Dr. Ganzallo reiterated the Corps’ resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies in combating burglary, vandalism and other criminal activities across Ogun State.
He urged residents, community leaders and members of the public to remain vigilant, secure their properties properly and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency for quick intervention.
